Lets Talk 223/556 SBR ammo

I am close to being blue in the face on trying to find out what the most effective.

 

 7.5" barrel 1/7 223/556 and is for CQB only. Lots research still undecided. Some say one thing and other say another. I am not looking to be able to punch thru high levels of vest or body armor.  Just want to find the best close distance round that will do the job

Depends on the twist rate too. With those shorty barrels if it is a 1:7 youll want a slightly heavier bullet around the 60s to prevent it from keyholing - which is possible in close range.

If you just want massive trauma in that range and dont care for pinpoint accuracy then some lower 40/50gr frangies or bonded will do fine.

The sweet spot really depends more on twist rate to get that dialed in

Sorry about that but I fixed my above post and it is 1/7.  Short distance is all this is for.

Best performance would be from a 67gr or 69gr bullet.

But honestly for short range (under 100m) ive used 55gr .223, XM193 and XM855 and they have perform very well.

Granted that was against bottles and bowling pins at 25 and 50yds with the 55grs. I noticed some keyholes past 100. 62s did just fine.
