WMA parking (potentially dumb question)

OK, there are a lot of small WMA tracts around my house that I'd like to hunt. But only a couple of them actually have marked entrances and parking areas.

Is it permissible to park on the side of a public road to hunt? I always feel a little odd about it, and for that matter, not all the obvious access points have enough of a shoulder to park on.

In fact, it seems there are several local tracts here where I'm not sure how you can access them at all without having to cross private property.

Was concerned about the same thing for the WMA's....the TWRA site has all of the maps..print those off for the location that you will be hunting. Also, you can pull up the area on Virtual Earth and upload the satellite photo as well...it really helps out for your bearings. As far as parking...contact the TWRA officer / agent / rep for that area...they will be glad to tell you where the best access points are as well as the best areas to hunt! Heck, we were told to park along 840 for unit II of Priest and just hop the fence....had a great time with my boys!

when i was going to orsa during bow season, there were probably 20 or so trucks along the side of the road coming off i-40. i guess you just park where you can, and hope no one breaks into your car.

definately make you nervous leaving something in the car...

I would be more nervous trying to break into a car knowing that the owner is in the woods, wearing camo so I can't see them, and knowing they have a gun.

Eh, I lock my truck about four times a year. Which is kind of funny when you consider that you don't need the keys to start it any more. But somehow I doubt that a thief would a)select a 22-year old ratty truck to steal, and then b)successfully figure out that due to an annoying relay problem, there's a switch for the fuel pump you have to activate if you want to start it.

:D
