Inversion merger

Pfizer is merging with the smaller Scots - based Allergan, about a $160,000,000,000.00 deal.

Reducing corp tax rate from 35% to 18%.

When you know cost will increase due the labor necessary to administer and oversee burdensome government regulations to be "legally compliant" as well as employees compensation (read that - health insurance) you can...

Either raise price or reduce expense to maintain margins required by your shareholders.

It may even be an Avenue for this monster of Pharma to actually reduce price since they can play the Walmart game.

I'm also sure there are folks in guv'mint who believe it should be illegal to move your business due to negative economic impact and you should be required to stay put or pay a large exit tax for your selfish, greedy, un-American behavior.

Illegal, no.  But there should be heavy tariffs enacted to put American companies first.  You want to set up HQ overseas, it should cost you to keep access to our markets, and the well to do population therein.

This problem is one associated with the free trade agenda, not our corporate tax rates.

Heavy tariffs on all imports to put US companies first or just applied to formerly based US companies?

Or...we can lower the cost to do business here by lowering our tax rate, make it more expensive for foreign companies to sell their wares here by matching the tariff placed on our products overseas, and quit forcing companies into expensive insurance plans.

On everything.  If your country for corporate tax purposes isn't the US, you should need to pay to play.

The US is the only country with a high population, and high income levels.  If a business in another country wants to take advantage of that, we should make it worth our while.

Bull####.

My thoughts exactly! Corporate taxes coupled with never ending regulatory oversight has crippled our manufacturing capabilities.

Regulatory oversight we can debate, but corporate taxes have been quite higher throughout history, and we did just fine.

Then you can match the top rate against the top bracket amount by year.

Can I blame Reaganomics yet?

When tax rates were higher (pre and post WWII), companies essentially had nationalities - just like individuals had nationalities.   -ownership was aware of and protective of the United States as a nation.

That is no longer the case.  I don't have a solution... but it's a different problem than it was back then.

-wish it weren't so...
