The greatest generation that will ever live. A true American hero in his own right, and in so many ways! I just had dinner with my hero! An 87-year-old WWII veteran half-track driver from the U.S. Army 10th Mountain Division. He's also my grandfather. And he's my hero.

Giant +1 for posting. God bless that man. Tell him we say thanks!!

Figured I'd post that once it found its way on to youtube. There's more to it. He was more of a father to me than anyone else in my life ever was. We had lunch together today at the Cracker Barrel, and I was moved by how much of a "real man" he was. He lives in a retirement home that he moved himself in to so as to not be a "burden" on the family. He drives himself (with clearance after years of annual doctor's visits) to lunch every Tuesday to spend time with me and a few close friends, was a succesful accountant (to a guy named Elvis), and is the patriarch of a vey large family and the subject of a domestic shorthair named Prissy. From the age of 20-something to 80, he only missed work for coronary bypasses, prostate cancer, and the passing of his wife. He is, and will always be, my hero.
