What rifle to carry opening morning?

A man with a '99 that hunts with something other than a '99 is no man at all.

You're probably right. At any rate, here's my rainy weather rifle. A Spanish 7x57. I've got less than $100 in it loaded. After finally getting the barrel clean, which took several years of intermittent cleaning, it's beginning to show a glimmer of promise in the accuracy department.

I hate photobucket! :wall: It wasn't sideways when I posted it.

Openin weekend I'll be taking the second from the right.

308 Marlin Express

then the one to the left of that a

Sears Model 45 J.C.Higgins in 35 Rem.

then if I manage some woods hunting the far left

Henry 44 Mag, or the far right Glenfield 30-30

These will be first as I've only had them for a short while and never killed anything with any of them.

Then the trusty Marlin 444.

As you can see all leverguns this year.

Most of my hunting will be from a hunting house as I'm in a leg cast til the 16th of Dec.

Oh and I have a couple Ruger handguns that will also be carried.http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a203/sidinslinger/Mobile%20Uploads/2015-09/20150928_141803-1_zps3nva0xpl.jpg~original

This old 303 Savage will probably get some woods time before next week is over.

My 1946 Win94 30wcf will get to hang out in the trees with me some again this year too.

Well, went to make final prep and cleanup of my hunting trailer.  Had time to look at my hunting pack and I have three .270 rounds left so I may just give the Weatherby Vanguard a turn in the rotation this year.  The goal is to take three minimum, so am thinking .308, .270, and .44.  If enough time remains, .300 BLK, and 5.56 will be entered into the rotation as well.
