Depending on your expectations, you won't be disappointed. Match grade thousand yards...uh no. Feed it right and it'll hit whatever you're pointing at around TN. It's a good solid rifle.

Caster's about dead on.
I've got the .223 & it's accurate enough. It's a long way from being match accurate, but it's more than accurate enough for hunting anything I'd shoot at with a .223
Minute of coyote at 300 equates to around 2" at 100

To me, it seems a little pricey for what it is, but certainly sexy looking.

Were I looking for a "ranch/truck/deer rifle", I would probably think cheap and lighter (several bolt actions from Ruger, Savage, etc. come to mind), or autoloader... you can find and/or build an AR pattern gun in .308 for about the same money as the Gunsite Scout.

Yeah, but it's a beautiful Mauser-actioned rifle available with a laminate stock that really appeals to me. I put a Hi-Lux scout scope on mine.

I've actually got one of the polymer stocked ones. I imagine it would be a joy to carry as it is very light. I haven't shot it yet though.

+1 on breaking in the bolt. Good little utility rifle. I really like it in the deer stand.

Every Ruger rifle I've ever bought has a very very stiff bolt out of the box. I find that working the bolt a couple hundred times smooths it right out.

My bolt is pretty smooth. Better than most out of the box is how I would grade it.

When I was looking for a .308 Bolt action, I looked at a Ruger Scout.  I wasn't that impressed with the handling or the trigger.  Ended up picking up a Savage 10P SR.  I added a Vortex Diamondback scope and I love it!!!  It's a little tack driver! You can see pictures here.http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/87929-tactical-bolt-gun/  It came with the flash suppressor and the big knob on the bolt.  I ditched the Centerpoint "tacticool" scope for the Diamondback, which I picked up on sell at Bud's.

Interesting discussion guys!

Currently looking at the Remington 700 or Ruger American w/ Redfield scope for a .308 bolt-action. People keep telling me to look at Savage, though, I have to admit... my curiosity is piqued!
