Guys and Gals

The all volunteer Tennessee State Guard is looking for prior service and special skills non-prior service recruits. There have been significant changes in the TNSG over the past few years and it is becoming much more of a player within the State Military Department.

If interested the website for HQ is http://www.tnsg.us/ and check out the training academy http://www.tnguardacademy.org/

Let me stress that this is not the old 'coffee and donut' lardbutt organization that it was once rumored to be. The pay is still the same $0, the medical/retirement benefits haven't changed - there are none, but the good that the organization does in the State is growing by leaps and bounds.

End of my PSA...

It's kind of funny, I was just wondering if this type of thing existed. I see that one of the executive officers is a gun shop owner down here in Chatty. If the training is free, I may look into this.

The 4th REGT works A LOT with the NG based in Chatt. Training is free, the TNSG Academy is free, your cost is in your uniform - boots, BDU/TDU etc.. But the supply officer there may be able to procure a lot of the items for you. Hope you check them out.. Wish more would as the TNSG needs prior service or special skills non-prior volunteers.

Are they still wearing stuff that spotlights them as TNSG?

Big bright patches? bright nametags? still in BDUs?

What would a 20 year combat vet with First Sergeant experience be assessed rank wise?? Private in charge of watching grass grow?
