As some of you were aware, my wife and I were expecting a son due in January. We had to rush to the hospital around 2am Sunday as she was having premature contractions. After a few tests were done, an emergency cesarean section was performed very early Sunday. Our son, Landon, was born at 33 weeks; about 6.5 weeks early.

The medical staff was able to stabilize him, see enough of a "fight" from him to warrant transferring him to the Vanderbilt NICU, and did so shortly after lunch Sunday. We received a call around 3pm that his condition was fading fast and that I needed to get there as quickly as I could. Not sure how I made the 30 mile drive in under 15 minutes but either every cop in Nashville was on break or God cleared a path for me.

I was able to hold him during his last moments here on Earth. Landon passed away from an overwhelming number of medical complications at around 4:20pm Sunday, in my arms at Vanderbilt.

At this time I am asking that everyone please refrain from sending PMs. It's just a little overwhelming and almost impossible for me to reply to each and every one and I feel absolutely obligated to do that. Instead, if you want to post in this thread I will reply as I can. That way anything said more or less carbon-copies to everyone.

Eddie (Molonlabetn) will be handling most of the general admin duties in my absence and the rest of the Moderators will be taking care of business as always. I am indebted to all of them to this end.

Thanks.

David, there is nothing that any of us can say that will take away the pain you and your wife are feeling. They say there is no worse pain than loosing a child. But take comfort in knowing that he is resting with the Lord now. They both will always be watching over you and your wife. Words cannot express my sorrow. Hang in there buddy.

Very sorry to hear the news. My wife and I went through a similar experience with our second child. I remember God giving me the thought that the first time I would see that child again would be in eternity. He would not have to experience any of the troubles of this world, only the joy of the next.
