Earlier this week I was at Smoky Mtn Knifeworks checking out their newly remodeled gun department. While there four women, probably in their late 30's or early 40's walked by. One of them exclaimed to the rest "Oh my god, I have never seen anything so scary in my life!" Of course I looked to see what had scared the group so badly, and laughed out loud because they were staring in horror at the handguns in the display case. After they had taken a suitable number of cell phone pics to show their friends back home, they decided it would be smart if they left the department before something bad happened.
I just shook my head and looked at the sales guy that said it happens on just about a daily basis. I'm sure they would have crapped themselves if they had gone across the parking lot to Buds and seen people shooting on the range.

You should have offered to safely escort those poor women out of the building and made a big show of how protective you were being.  We Southerners are known to be a friendly and helpful folk, after all.

One of my kids were scared of the stuffed animals there when he was small. The other one didn't like the singing animal band. Neither have ever complained of a gun display anywhere.

Why any adult would fear an inanimate object is beyond my comprehension.

I moved from Sevier county 15 years ago, no regrets except family.  Lived there 32 years.  Visit family 1/month.  If guns repel the tourist, I might visit more often.
