had a old ww2 8mm in the 60's and 70's.  man that was a great gun.  not a cut down gun, full off the battle field rifle.  8 mm ammo was not hard to get, lots of old surplus ammo around.  then in 83 i dropped a 308 barrel in it and never looked back.

That's exactly what it is.  It's not the cheap corrosive surplus from many decades ago. It comes on stripper clips and is non-corrosive, so that helps justify the cost.  The bullets are only 150 gr so I'm guessing it's down-loaded practice ammo, which isn't necessarily a bag thing as the rifle is rather a cannon with the 200 gr loads.

This ammo is corrosive.

I now see that most sites say that the stuff in tins is corrosive.  I was thinking of the boxes that say non-corrosive.  I'd assume its the same stuff, but maybe not.   The safest assumption is that it is corrosive and should be treated accordingly.

It's not a big deal to clean behind corrosive ammo. Hot soapy water in a bucket or make you a 3 liter squirt bottle with a tygon tube to fit the chamber. 170 grain is newer than the stuff in the green tins. Edited by Sunfish
