IWB holster with zero (or adjustable to zero) cant?

Recommended Posts

Does such a thing exist? I typically carry OWB, kydex paddle with zero cant at 3 o'clock. That's just the most comfortable for me. I've been looking at different IWB options (Alien Gear, etc), and they all seem to have a 15 degree cant. A gun at 4 o'clock hurts my back. (Steel player disease.)

I have a Tagua soft holster, but it's impossible to reholster. I would like something with the larger leather back like the Alien Gear and a kydex mold for the pistol. Any one know an option?

I did find a SHTF product that says it has an adjustable cant, but I can't find specifics.

An IWB with zero cant would gouge your love handles with the hammer or back of the slide/rear sight. That's the reason you don't find many.

Any custom holster maker could make you one, but you won't likely like it.

Concur completely, tried it with an OWB & IWB & didn't like the feel at all. Part of that may have been due to past training and muscle memory, but it was a completely different draw stroke. It also made a weak hand to strong side holster draw unfeasible. That said neutral cant holsters wouldn't be around if other people didn't like them.

Actually, that Comp-Tac looks exactly like what I want. Thanks, tarheelbball!

As I said, I have an inexpensive Tagua soft leather that has zero cant, and it has been VERY comfortable. No gouging whatsoever, lol. It's just impossible to reholster as it completely collapses when the gun is removed.

Take a look at the blade-tech nano IWB holster.  It can be set for zero cant or for a small cant.  I have one that I wear for appendix carry at zero cant.  Neither the crossbreed nor the alien gear cloak tuck 3.0 (which is a very nice holster) can be adjusted to zero cant.

I have an Alien Gear IWB 2.0 and I wear it at the 3 o'clock position with as close to a zero cant as I can get using the method 1madss describes.  It has the body layer go all the way up the length of the slide, so the back of the slide and rear sights aren't rubbing against the body.  I'm not a skinny boy, so my love handles would let me know if things were uncomfortable. I also make sure I have pants that are the right size for the IWB to fit inside as well, and that is probably the difference between comfort and annoyance.

Good info. Can you still reliably get a grip on your pistol with zero cant like you can with a forward cant?

Yes, but that's because I keep it at the 3 o'clock instead of at 4-5 like most IWB's.  If I had it at zero cant at 4-5, I'm sure it wouldn't be as easy, but I also wouldn't rule out being able to get a good grip and a fast enough draw.  Of course, that would required about a hundred iterations with a snapcap in the magazine to test out.

The reason I keep it at 3 o'clock is that I find that if I slide it back, it prints...probably since my belly is taking up most of the real estate under my shirt these days. :D

Man, I'm liking the look of those! Not sure about the draw function on the pro... some kind of a twist move?

Correct, you grip the gun and give a little twist towards your body as you draw. Some people whine about it, but believe me it's not that bad after practicing it 10 or 20 times. And yes, they really ARE that comfortable.
