Gunsmith in Brentwood area

Looking for a GOOD gunsmith in Brentwood area. Need a pinned muzzle device removed and a new one installed (unpinned). Undoing some ban state mods on a pricey HK rifle so I don't want some hack doing it.

Any suggestions?

Do you know where the spot weld is holding in the pin?  Removing pinned muzzle caps are pretty easy if you own a dremel and a padded vise.  If the barrel is already threaded your new muzzle device should just go right on once you clean up the threads with a wire brush and some oil.  No reason to get a smith involved there unless there is something I am missing here.  Just don't go making an illegal SBR and it should be smooth sailing ;)

If you are still looking, I'd vote Jeff at Guns and Leather. a bit of a drive, but he's a great smith and a great guy. Tom over at Lock Stock and Barrel has a good reputation from what I've read and they are a little closer to you, you might also try calling them up.

Yeah I had heard Jeff up at Guns and Leather was good so I brought it up there last Saturday. Little bit of a drive but nothing absurd. Will probably be two weeks or so until I get it back but that's a good sign if he's backed up with work.

I'll give a second to Tom at Lock Stock & Barrel. He has always done a great job on my guns.

Yes I heard good things on him as well. I may try him next time. FWIW, I just got my upper back from Jeff and he did a great job.
