doing cosmetic work on an AK

I am wanting to purchase an AK and do some cosmetic work on it to make it look better than what it already does--I am wanting to change out the fixed stock for something along the lines of a collapsible or folding 4 or 6 position stock commonly found on the M4, and the newer models of the AR-15. I am also wanting to add a pistol grip to the rifle such as is also found on the M4, and a flash supressor if possible--I can sacrifice the bayonet lug if need be. I am wanting to purchase the AK and do the work before the new AWB is put in place by the incoming administration.

Could anyone maybe give me some ideas as to what it would cost, and how hard it would be to do it myself? This will be my first project--I have no previous experience at this sort of thing.

The entire rifle cost this. They are built by a soldier at FT. Campbell. He is in Korea

right now and the store is temporarily closed. His prices have risen slightly. His wife

has been running the business. I am sure she is overwhelmed right now with the trend the market has taken. I would call and see whats up.

Once you have the AK, you can find an AK collapsable stock for around $55. There are lots of pistol grips out there for $25 or so. Assuming your barrel is threaded, there are several variants of brakes/ suppressors starting around $20. Note: with the current run on AK's, these prices may be low.

If you are going to put a stock on it use the Ace internal receiver block and one of their skeleton folders. Whole thing shouldn't cost more than $170 for everything. I'd also recommend the Phantom flash hider.

-100 With the exception of the underfolder(gcrookston's) everthing mentioned is American made ie Western Parts. Not original AK parts. To each there own.
