A new experience for me

I've never been saltwater fishing until last week. Although it was too rough to go way out where the big ones are, we still had a great time fishing over a sunken barge. We had to throw back all the triggerfish and red snapper because they weren't in season. We caught them as fast as we could get a line in the water. My youngest son often caught them two at a time!

Here's what we got to keep.

Sea bass, White snapper, and I forget what the one on the top right was. A restaurant next to the dock cooked them for us.

Me with a red snapper.

We must have caught close to 100 fish, and had a great time.

Looks like a great trip! I've done quite a bit of fishing on the ocean back in the days of working construction in Florida a lot. I love the fish fries also! Nothing like it. We used to go catch shrimp in castnets with the incoming tide which was always a lot of fun.

Awesome! Looks like you all had a lot of fun and caught some nice fish. I grew up saltwater fishing on the Chessapeke Bay and parts of the Atlantic coast. So much fun. I havn't been saltwater fishing in years, though.

Thanks for posting the fishing pics (memories), Gregintenn. Memories that your sons will tell their sons about, oneday. For sure, you can't get fish in a restsurant any fresher than that. Looks like you guys had a gteat vacation. Edited by Sidewinder

Sounds like you had a good day!  I was in Destin over the weekend and caught a few from the pier but nothing worth bragging about.  There was a charter that had a big grouper and a few big red snapper.
