TX Dove Hunt

Congrats! I grew up in West Texas and I was raised dove and quail hunting. There was never a question of if you could shoot your limit, the question was could you do it in one box of shells. Lots of action, I miss it.

When I was kid growing up in middle of state of Illinois we had shoots like that out in the farm lands. The farmers would make sure they planted about 10 acres of Mullet for the doves right in the middle of their Soybean fields and we would stand on the outer edge of the Soybean fields and the doves would have to fly past us to get to the Mullet patches. It was nothing to limit in an hour in the first few days of the season but once the birds got wise they would fly in a little higher up and much faster and that was when the fun really began. If my buddy and I didn't reload our own shells we couldn't have afforded to do as much shooting as we did.

You sure got some nice fat birds on that tailgate and some really great eating for sure...........

Lucky man. I did opening day last year down in Texas. I think everyone hit there limit before 10 am, and there were easily 60 guys in the same field. It looked like a Civil War reenactment. I thought we had killed every dove in Texas but we drove by the field that afternoon and there were more than in the morning.

If you need those little dudes to find a home I have a Big Green Egg and some killer marinade. Just saying!

Take pics and post'em! I brought my gopro but was having such a good time I never used it... wish I had now

My dad almost bought one at Cabelas and our friend and his son almost bought a drone. I picked up a Benchmade and so that has been the highlight of my trip.

I slaughtered them today. I have never seen so many birds flying. Tomorrow will be even better. Going in the morning and afternoon and I'm ready to kill my limit in the morning so I can sleep all day.

The photo of the guys in the back of the truck or on a wagon look as if they are praying on there way into battle.  I see no photographic evidence that a dove was seen or on this hunt?

I'd prop that shotgun up against a fence post to pizz, and never find it again.

I was too busy killing birds to post. Plus I think it was in my best interest to not post any photos. I do have a selfie. 7657a72fcc088f263ac540f3f9a33ee9.jpg

I totally understand the not posting photos. I was just yanking your chain. If anybody out there is wondering, that's his happy look!
