So I'm posting this just to see if any TGOERS might have a lead. Right now I work at Aisin Automotive casting in the machining department. I've been here roughly a year and I am starting to look for other postions. My reasoning is simple. We work to much. I work 12 hour shifts, and have worked 7 days a week since labor day, and worked it for several weeks before that. I can't continue doing 80 hour work weeks. I work 500 pm to 500 am and only get to spend 15-20 min a day with my wife. I haven't seen my family (mom and dad) in weeks. I have no chance of any social life, seeing friends or anything else. So I'm putting out my feelers to see if anything is open. I'm a hard worker, Marine Corps veteran, and have a lot of technical skills on hand. I was ASE certified in several areas before letting them expire, I was a helicopter mechanic in the Marine Corps, I can do woodwork, blacksmithing, I'm a very novice welder, I can do construction including some concrete and laboring for block and brick. So if anyone has an opening that may pay enough to stay up with my bills and would allow me to have a few days off a month then let me know. Thanks

Many automotive manufacturing companies are running at full blast like you described.

Stark contrast to the free fall of layoffs just 6 years ago.  I remember a many of people who were able to keep a job, on 28-32 hour weeks.

Not sure if this helps but Lisega in Kodak (exit 407) is hiring.  Here's the positions:  http://www.lisega.de/career/jobs-offers.html

If you can hold out til early 2017, OTICS USA is building a plant (also in Kodak) about 1/2 mile north of exit 407 (Snyder Rd) They make camshaft caps, rocker arms, etc.

I'm in the same boat.  I'm attempting to change positions within the company.  I like the company that I work for but my particular position simply requires more time than I want to give.  Maybe it's because I've had some really good employers in the past, I just don't care for the attitude some employers have where they act like they own employees and don't care of their employees have something else they had rather be doing, like spending time with family.

Are there no shops that produce aerospace parts in your area? With your aircraft experience I would think you would be a prime candidate. Don’t limit yourself to machine operator, your skills may get you an entry level position in Quality.
Have you submitted a resume to the headhunters in your area? I hear all the time that there are no jobs, but Aerotek Nashville calls me all the time. There is one in your area.
