NEA compact carbine stock

In my ridiculous search for an AR stock I like I picked one of these up on a whim. I went with NEA because I could not see spending $100 more on the same functioning stock from another company just because I have heard of that company. I guess if I did a little more research I would probably spent the extra for me and been extremely happy. I am overall still happy with the stock, I still have to go to the range with it. Here are some of my initial complaints. First it does not come with the bolt, not a big deal, I have extras. Second not easy to assemble. The stock goes on easy enough but putting the upper on is a little awkward, it makes the AR harder to take down. Third proprietary bolt carrier, can't just have backups lying around with out sizeable investment. Lastly and really the biggest for me is the latch to extend the stock. It really is a 2 hand operation. I am going to keep working with it and see if I can get better at it. Well I guess maybe I have more issues with it than I thought, lol. I do like the length it cuts the rifle down to. It make the gun more accommodating to smaller bags. The placement of my cheek is very comfortable. I think this style stock would be amazing on a SBR. I will give final review after the range.

Sound like five, count 'em FIVE,  very good reasons to avoid it to me!

Yeah after I wrote it I realized it sounds bad. I do like the idea and I will see how I like it after a little more time.

Hope it all agrees with you. For me, I stay reasonably close to factory stock on rifles. I know just enough to load and pull the trigger on most, a bit less on others.

But in the end, if you like it...that's all that matters.

Range report: I really liked it. If I keep this as is and don't plan on swapping uppers and buy a couple of extra bolts this should be exactly what I wanted. All my complaining was for nothing. It has a shorter LOP, so some of you taller folks may not like it as much, but I like the shorter LOP on a defense weapon. It feels great and shoots great. The stock release button is getting easier the more I use it. Overall I would suggest this stock.
