marlin 336

Recommended Posts

i bought a marlin 336 and it was all in 1 box taken apart for $40. clean gun with a cheap tasco scope but not a bad buy for $40 if i can fix it, having no clue what's wrong with it. so, i put the gun together and the lever will not stay closed, it opens 1/2 inch unless you keep it held shut. well, what i found was the lever was bent keeping the detant from going over the roll pin that keeps it closed. the only way i can see how it got bent would be if the bolt stuck open and the pryed on the lever until it closed. has anyone else ran into anything like this? the bolt staying stuck open after you shoot it? i'm going to shoot it saturday after i hunt so i will find out then if it was the problem or the symptom.
