Field Kit - Inside Magpul Grip

What have you found that works well. My get from A-to-B gun has the Magpul grip with the storage department (AR). Thinking oil, a cleaning tool, what do you use?

I want something quality that could stay in there for years, not leak or go bad. Put it in there and not mess with it unless shit has gotten real bad...

I carry batteries. I always use lithium AA's in my Eotechs to reduce the possibility of leaking. It's unlikely that they will leak outside the optic to begin with. But batteries won't keep your gun from running. A broken bolt will. So...

Not sure if it is possible but if you want your AR to be 100% reliable in a SHTF I would see if an AK47 will fit inside the grip. That would be the one the to make my "fighting" AR more reliable.

In all seriousness I would put a extractor spring, rubber o-ring, cam pin and disconnector in the grip. Those would fix 90% of the issues a currently reliable gun gun might have. And if you have room toss a spare bolt in there.

Very good suggestions! No oil?

I built a SHTF AR that has the Magpul MIAD grip and ACS stock.  On-board parts and supplies include:

Extra bolt assembly and firing pin, Anderson ‘Oops’ spring/parts kit, a small rag and tube of gun oil, extra batteries, and a Samson Field Survival AR tool kit.  I have a few other things stuffed in there too, just don’t recall everything.

(The Samson tool is cool, but it’s seriously overpriced in my opinion. I got it marked down on E-Bay and still paid way too much.)

Thanks guys, ordered that Magpul insert and a bolt / firing pin. I've got a couple of those brownells.com spring kits. I'll see what else I can fit once that gets in. Would love to be able to get a small thing of oil in there too

Don't forget Dolomite's mention of the cam pin. He's right. I would modify that core like in the picture. That's a great idea.
