The number of casualties is higher than average, but the stampede itself isn't.

 

Also, the shear amount of people in comparison to the timeline of the Hajj...

I know I should feel remorse over this but for some reason I can't. I think in some odd way it is some kind of punishment being handed down for the actions and beliefs of those of the Islamic Faith. This seems to happen at almost every one of these big (I guess you might call it a revival) or holy gathering. I find it strange that of all the people killed the only country to speak up and criticize Saudi Arabia is Iran and none of their people where killed, just a few hurt....................... :shrug:
