Felons Get Standing Ovations in Senate

So, the felon Stevens of Alaska gives his swan song in the senate today.

Gets LONG standing ovation of honor.

What a bunch of crooks there; I'm sure they recognize that "there but for the grace of God go I" (meaning, he got caught and they didn't)...

And looks like Dubya wants to get some last controversial licks in before he leaves the White House burning behind him.

Oh Shoot, what do you call someone who criticizes someone else for the behaviour they do themselves? Stevens investigation and conviction were first and last a political maneuver. You've got dems stuffing cash in freezers and in their sweaters, two big names (Murtha of PA and Moran of VA) just taking kickbacks straight from pork-barrel earmarks - Murtha to the tune of 10 million or so, Moran to just a little over a million - where is the outcry? The old man from Alaska, who held a very important seat the dems wanted, got a hot tub and a new deck put on his house.

By congressional standards, he is pure as the driven snow.

Oh, don't get me wrong.

I didn't mean to defend any Dems or anyone else.

I just found it particularly repugnant that when one is successfully prosecuted and then (barely) loses reelection, he gets standing ovation from the rest of the thieves in attendance.

The political system has made it mandatory that our "representatives" function as whores - our founding fathers would hang 'em all as tyrants.
