Installed ALG AKT Trigger in the Saiga IZ132Z

Well, I finally got the ALG AKT trigger installed in my Saiga AK47. :w00t:

It's a bit shorter pull and lighter feeling than the Tapco G2 and light-years better than the standard Commie triggers.

Just some notes if you ever do one in a Saiga like mine.

1. The hammer will need to be ground to clear the slide-lock. Tapco G2 hammer left. ALG AKT right.

2. The safety will need some grinding to clear the back of the trigger.

3. The roll pin for the safety, I drove in all the way deep and didn't bother grinding it down since I had to grind the safety anyway. You can see the safety lever (off safe in this pic) behind the trigger and roll pin (right back side).

4. I had bought a ALG Defense hammer spring for the heck of it and tried to install it, but with the slide lock lever, it has too many coils and binds up causing the hammer not to drop freely. You can see the coils of the hammer spring being pushed inward toward the middle.

All in all, it was a lot more work (lots of drimel grinding) than I thought it would be, but I feel it is worth it to get a top of the line fast trigger in the gun.

Off topic but how do you like the rifle?

I've not taken it to the range yet, but just by handling it, I'll say its lighter weight than I thought it would be. It feels just "right" if you know what I mean. I haven't picked up many AK's but so far this is the best feeling AK I've touched.

My wife and I were actually pleasantly surprised with this one. :)

Can't wait to take it out to shoot it. Maybe this weekend....

Dolomote,

I just noticed the US version of my rifle has the bolt catch on the safety lever like my AK pistol. If I had thought about it, I could have just bought that safety and removed the other bolt catch and I wouldn't have needed to grind my hammer!

O well....
