Pretty cool write up on the original AR-10. Anyone know why no one uses that design for 308?

The oversized muzzle brakes made from titanium...expensive raw material, more expensive machine work at that time and problematic at best.

The charging handle was changed to the one used in the AR-15/M-16 for commonality of parts...ergo...easier to parts source and less expensive due to mass production. Additionally the AR-10 of that era never achieved wide acceptance...

I get it received better acceptance outside the US than it did here, but what was it exactly? The muzzle break isn't anything. How was the chargind handle different? I can't imagine it would require a total redesign.

I have quite a few of the gun mags from the '50s and '60s. One thing you notice when you get the cover pictures all together is the Hollywood stars that  are on many of the covers. A far cry from today when most of them are anti gun hippocrits.
