hunting knife

Looking for a good US made Hunting knife. Probably 4-5" for game processing and small batonning. I have a larger ~10" camping blade.

Looking at a couple from Buck and Kabar but would prefer from an All US company. any recommendations? Edited by Guest

What price range are you looking for? There are some custom makers here, depending on the style you want.

Gran Torino makes some gorgeous stuff, as does SYBO and bigbabysweets. I do some custom work as well. As far as production goes, an Esee 5 would be excellent. Kabar and buck also make good knives for the money.

Have you looked at the Buck Paklite?  It is stainless steel and you can put the whole thing in the sink or a bucket with bleach to clean.  You can pick one up for about twenty dollars and it is made in the USA.  Buck also makes a couple knives with blades similar to the Paklite but the knives have rubber handles.  The Omni is a nice knife that should be pretty easy to clean since it has a rubber handle.

Sharp finger is my favorite, older ones are better but the new ones are not too bad.  I do all my field dressing with that and a cheap gut hook knife with a fat curved blade.

One of my favorite blade shapes. I almost bought an Old Timer 152OT at a gun show, but it was one of the new ones (made in China).

I would also consider Tops knives, they are all USA made and are great blades as well if you have ever seen the show Naked and Afraid, EJ has put this one through the tasks and I for one will be buying one

OK, that knife sells for $250 - is that in the same ballpark as some of the custom knives sold in this forum?  I've looked wistfully at some of the knives offered by Gran Torino et al, but hesitated to ask what kind of price they had on them.

The customs made here are by all means great knives. If a custom knife is what you want then by all means order one but this knife is absolutely worth the $250 and has been proven in the field

Having said that I have 2 of Donalds knives (Gran Torino) and love them
