Casting Brinell Hardness Chart

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have a handy chart that lists the pressure or velocity ranges for each Brinell hardness?   I can find charts that list the Brinell hardness of each metal recipe mixture, but can't find the range or limits for each hardness level....

What caliber?

ALL OF THEM!   But really, 45 acp, 357 magnum, for both revolver and lever action rifle, 7.62x54r, 308, and possible 303 british in the future...

... it should be "close" to linear,  (please, please get a 2nd opinion here).   That means that if you interpolate linearly between the hardness of copper and the hardness of pure lead,  and interpolate the load data in the same ratios, it should be close enough to get you to the "tweak from here" level.   Its been a while and I am a little rusty ... anyone confirm that I am on the right track?

A list would be just a start, you will have to test and find what works best.

Barrel twist, twist rate and barrel length will have an effect on lead.

Just go out and find what works best for "your" firearm, it just might not work in mine.
