When did Marlin lever guns skyrocket?

I might just get a new Henry in .44 Mag.  Does anyone have one of the newer "Remlins" in 44 Mag?   If so, is the QA ok?

They are making and shipping .44 Mags.  No .357s since Remington took over.  "this year" they told me at the NRA convention.

Not holding my breath.

Here's a good current article as to why. They completely retooled for the 1894 series after trying to suffer along with the old machines from North Haven.

What a lot of folks don't realize is that some of the worst rifles Marlin ever let out were made those last few years in the North Haven plant even before Remmie bought them.

I have a Marlin 1894c 357/38 JM barrel with the crossbolt safety and love it.  I personally like the safety as I'm used to them from shotguns.  For those that don't like the safety, you can buy a kit from Leverguns to remove the safety and replace it with a pin for $9.95.  http://www.leverguns.com/articles/taylor/crossbolt_safety.htm   It is a simple install that doesn't require a gunsmith and looks very natural on the rifle.

Yeah. The price went up when Remington bought Marlin and dropped Marlin quality. Putting a safety on a lever rifle didn't help either.

If you think a 357 is high, price one in 41 magnum!!! :shake:

Amen, could buy 'em for around $500, $600 a few years ago.
Now they are through the roof
