New to forum already love it. Question... anyone else have an issue with getting your issued permit.. I called the handgun unit and it was issued last month ..still nothing.. I guess tn department of safety doesn't actually print and mail our licenses, permits or id's any longer they have a I'd farm as they called it a company called morphotrust. They do all our id's now.. which I don't understand and don't like because my info is now in the hands of another company out of state doing god knows what with it. This is why when you go to renew your license now they give you this paper with you info on it instead of an actual drivers license...

Unless things have changed, you should have it within 10 days after issue. Call em back.

Things have changed.  The State has farmed out printing ID's so there's no telling what's going on.  Damn things are probably being produced in China or Mexico.

Mine was 7 days from DMV visit to permit in hand. But the paperwork says it can be up to 90. Probably lost in the mail somewhere

Far as I know, they never printed them themselves in the first place?

90 days is the span specified for whole process, not for time after they're actually issued.

Aren't some folks still getting their permits in 2-3 weeks from application date?

Had a friend wait for 65 days and he tried calling to find out what was the hold up. No real hold up, just did not get it out. He called again and he was told that it would be sent out immediately. Hope he gets it soon.

Basically they told me the company that they farmed it out too just started back printing them 4 to 6 days ago from being broke down for 40 days so th ey are back up about 30 some days.

Ah, well, that would have been helpful info from the gitgo, ya know. Or did you just get that info today after your earlier post?

They have 90 days to issue. The law does not make exceptions for crappy vendors in this matter.

Lisa Knight would say they did "issue" it whether it's in your hand or not.

However, she told me face to face that she would not issue one until background check was complete regardless of how long it took.

Agbracing has your been approved and issued yet?

Yes 2 weeks ago mine and my wife's. Both approved and issued. Please wait 10 days to receive them. We both did ours online. Class on a Sunday, dmv Tuesday morning, and finger prints that afternoon. Wednesday night approved. That part of it was very quick. I actually thought all that would take the longest not just waiting on them in the mail. Edited by Agbracing

Friend of mine renewed his DL 6 weeks ago yesterday and he has not got his new DL yet

Oooh, don't tell me this. What about new residents that go to the DMV. Are they still using the outside company or do they print new DL's up on the spot?

When you go to the DMV they will print off a temporary drivers license it is on copy paper that is what you use till your (real) one comes in the mail. My friend just told me that he was at Walmart and they wood not take his paper temp license as proof of age to buy beer had to use his HCP as photo ID Edited by raildog

For whatever it's worth:  I took the class on 9/19/15 (Saturday), DMV on 9/21/15 (Monday), and fingerprinting late in the day on 9/22(Tuesday).  Checked status on the web site 9/24 (Thursday) around 1:30pm and it shows "approved. Allow 10 business days for delivery of your permit".  I really didn't expect the background check to be that fast.

My experience is almost identical to yours BigAl. Class 9/19, DMV 9/21, finger printing at 1pm on 9/23, checked status at around 9pm on the same day 9/23 just to be sure everything was ok and it said approve allow 10 days.
