Recoil is firm but VERY manageable.  Not exactly capable of taking bears....it should be sufficient for two legged ghetto trash @ 5 paces.

 

It will penetrate a beach blanket folded 4 times and then about 1/2" of seasoned firewood.  

While not an honest indicator of performance, the wood was solid before the shot.  It split on impact.

No ejector, but, if you'll look closely at the barrel, there is a squared out section machined away making removal very easy. It DOES mean this pistol has what one might consider and unsupported chamber but given the lower pressure of my loads and the very low volume that will be shot through it, it'll be a non issue.

Good to know you came up with an acceptable cast bullet & handloaded ammunition compromise for your wife's pocket rocket. I'm going to keep it in mind because I like this patricular derringer set up. I wouldn't want it for my primary carry gun but as a last ditch BUG I think it'll do just fine.

So I bought one of these tonight. Put 50 rounds through it on the range. First off I gotta say I'm pretty impressed with accuracy at 7 yards, all but 1 outside of the 9 ring. Those are my fault, most definitely from flinching. Second, this thing hammers your hand. I have a nice piece of torn up skin in the web of my hand.
