I found this cheap Colt 1911 clone last night on the web. (Import Sports American Classic 1911 AC45 $356.00 new). Other than some adds, basic specs, (redundant) and the fact that it is built in the Philippines, (I know) there seems to be little to no information about them anywhere. I am guessing P.O.S., new import trying to break into the market, or perhaps both. With such a low price, I thought I would pass this along and see if anyone out there has any experience with them. Here is a link. http://www.1911pistols.com/item/68830_IMPORT_SPORTS_Hand_Guns_Pistols_Import_Sports_American_Classic_1911_Pistol__AC45G_.aspx

Anybody think it's worth $356.00 ?

I would rather have a RIA for the money. This could be a great pistol for under $400, though.

PS. Whoa CAPS lock and no punctuation! :D

I would put money on them coming of the same production line. The RIA is an Armscor product also unless they have changed in the last few months.

I agree.

:koolaid: caps

I've never heard of import sports... makes me wonder if they're coming from the same plant as the RIA but under a different name.

That's the best picture and description I could find of the model I bought. I'm no 1911 expert but fit and finish is pretty good. The overtravel screw on the trigger was slightly out of adjustment from the factory. Hadn't had a chance to shoot it much since I got that fixed. Overall I'm impressed for a little over $400 out the door.

I had a Llama that was actually a great shooting gun. It ran very well but had lived a hard life. It was well worn but still accurate. I sold it for what I had in it.

I still have a Charles Daly compact and it is a also a very solid gun. I have had many hundreds of trouble free rounds but it developed problems lately. I think they are magazine related issues but I have had some feeding problems out of the last couple hundred rounds. It is still pretty darn accurate for a short barreled 1911.

At that price I would lean towards the RIA or other Armscor products. If it were just a bit cheaper I might give it a chance. I have certainly been wanting another full size 1911.

For the money, I'd lean towards getting a RIA. Can't go wrong with a Rock.

does it shoot?
