Infidelity is (or use to be) grounds to kick a Military Officer out; why would being gay be acceptable?

The truth (as I see it, anyway) is this: Any citizen of able body and adequate mental facility should be able to serve. Whether one likes it or not, there are homosexuals in this country and they should be able to serve their country just like anyone else. Our morals notwithstanding, the type of sexual activity one prefers in private is between those involved and the Lord as long as it is not a crime punishable by law. The "Don't ask" policy should extend to ALL servicemen, IMO. Does this soldier like a little candle wax and leather? Fine. Don't tell anyone. Does that recruit dig big girls? Fine. Don't talk about it.

Does homosexuality bother you (not you personally... more of a royal "you")? Watch your 6 and make it clear that you're attracted to women without being offensive. Are you (see above) gay and in uniform? Know that trying to instigate any inappropriate contact with another soldier (BTW, doesn't that go for straight soldiers, too?) could get you the boot.

I don't see what's so hard about that.

the bible, since that seems to be what you are basing your "immoral" behavior from also says sodomy is immoral and I dont know anyone that will turn down a blow job (a form of sodomy).

Wow… I can’t even argue that.

So… If you had to pick someone with good moral fiber; you throw the guy that got a BJ last night and the butt buddies into the same category?

This is about more than what should be allowed in the military. When you limit the military or the private sector from sanctioning someone for immoral behavior it appears to our kids that we are putting our stamp of approval on it. They need to know that this is not acceptable or normal behavior and it has consequences.

With the spread of HIV into the heterosexual communtiy this threat is there with or without a homosexual in the military.

among the many OTHER things that I can think of, I don't want some wahoo staring at my ass instead of down the barrel of his weapon while we're in the field. I also don't care to come upon a tryst while interacting with my soldiers.

I'm no longer in the military..but I wouldn't care to have our military corrupted by the same moral standards lesser individuals go by.

As for the idea of homosexuality itself...one of the main reasons you don't see it in nature is because the creatures afflicted with homosexuality darwin themselves out of existence. I don't care if it's caused by an errant gene or if it's a learned response or both. I see no reason to subject others to the vagaries of someone elses' sexuality. that's not what they're there for.

would it be fair to throw you in with the norwegian bikini team? no. you'd love it...they wouldn't. why? because they wouldn't be able to relax.

I don't give a crap if 2 million homosexuals said to end the ban...they're biased. they don't MIND being segregated in with their own sex. That is their proclivity.

It would cause stress in an environment that already has enough of that.

What I was getting at with the "not in the military"comment was that anyone who's not there,or been there shouldn't have an opinion on the matter.

It appears that most that have commented were in the military and therefore earned an opinion.

It would be kind of slow around here without people posting opinions about stuff they are absolutely clueless about.
