Is Vince Young a bust like Ryan Leaf and many other drafted QB's?

He is the perfect example of why teams shouldn't give these guys who have never played a down in the NFL these HUGE contracts.

Come up with a pay scale for each position and that is that with a bonus for a Heisman winner and make all rookies sign a 4 year contract with pay for the first 2 years set by the NFL. If he wins the ROY then give an increase for year #2, also set by the NFL and after 2 years renegotiate the contract for the remaining years. No signing bonus until the second contract and after the 1st contract they are restricted free agents.

What do you think?

Didn't he supposedly score like a 3 on the NFL test?

running quarterbacks in the NFL don't usually do very well unless they can throw. McNair had to learn to throw as did all the others. Why the NFL keeps thinking these guys who live on ability alone can make it in a precision skill game is beyond me. Young will never be a successful NFL quarterback IMO. He can't throw and doesn't have a motion that is redeemable or fixable. I personally think Fisher was pressured into drafting a what he knew wouldn't work.

He's been a bust, but comparing him to Ryan Leaf may be a bit harsh. Maybe he will adapt and become a passer first. Scrambling to make the pass is great. McNair and McNabb have been successful with this formula. Simply being a running QB like Vick and Young makes for great college highlights, but short NFL careers.

He's gone but I wouldn't compare him to Leaf and McNair threw for school records before he came out. They need to take their losses and move on.
