Anyone here have it yet ? I know they are laying it in Green Hills in Nashville.

I don't think they are offering it yet in this market.  Google is notoriously tight lipped.  A significant portion of the infrastructure will be in a data center down town.  In the past month they were still doing construction to get fiber into the data center, thus I don't think they are operating out of that one.  

 

Having said that, they are also in another data center downtown.  I haven't been in that one since Google came into the picture.  So, it's possible they are offering service out of that one.

At Google I/O they said it would be over a year before we saw any homes hooked up. The Google office is still under construction off Division, but looks to be making good progress last I drove by.

I hate to sign a 2 year contract with satellite and then get an opportunity.

Do you have to have satellite?  I'm with AT&T DSL and don't have a commitment.  

 

Comcast may offer a commitment free deal, though I feel sure you can get a one year.  

 

Refusing to sign with threat of going elsewhere may get what you want, though you may have to change providers to get rid of the agreement.
