New LC9S

Picked up a new Ruger LC9S yesterday at Guns and Leather at an excellent price. Thank you Daniel for another great deal. I bring the gun home and did a detail strip for cleaning, etc. All went well until I put the manual safety spring back in. After two hours of searching for it after it slipped off I gave Ruger a call for a replacement. They are shipping me a new one at no charge and paying for shipping. This is excellent customer service IMHO. I know I don't need the safety but I feel better having it in. Also the CS rep informed me that they are no longer including a cartridge case with their firearms because the two states that required it no longer do.Since I had the box in front of me she was correct. So, I gave her the serial number to find out when the gun was born. It is from June of 2015.

Maybe next week after I put the spring in I will take it to the range for function testing and if all goes well add it to my carry rotation after I purchase a box of defensive ammo. Edited August 16, 2015 by Joe357

Funny, my two sisters both bought LC9's today. We'll take them out tomorrow for the first range trip. We bought a purple framed one from Guns & More, and bought a rasberry framed one from Specialty Arms. Unfortunately, Guns & More only had one color-framed LC9 because the experience that I've had with them on two purchases now were completely pleasant. I kept my mouth shut for about 2 minutes until I commented that they both now had girly guns. Regardless, they're happy so I'm happy.

They're good little guns. I helped a friend of mine pick one out for his wife and then taught her how to shoot it. WAY better trigger than the LC9

 

Make sure that you have the upgraded guide rod. Ruger did a voluntary recall/replacement for an issue with the rod now allowing full battery. Any riding of the slide would cause it. Called Ruger, they shipped me the part within a few days.

Went one more step today, I removed the magazine safety. If this gun does become part of my carry guns I don't want something like a magazine drop from not allowing a gun to fire. Should have done it when I first took it apart. Well at least I didn't have to worry about losing the manual safety spring when I took it apart this time. :(

Me and Mr. Maganet found the manual safety spring and it is now installed, so I will be taking the LC9s to the range this week to see how it functions.

 How difficult was it to detail strip it ? Did you need any special tools or just common tools ?

Just a punch(s) is all that was needed to remove the pins.

Also, need to be careful not to lose springs ;)

I have seen these and have been wondering how they shoot?
