New from Vermont

Hello, my name is Mark and I currently live in Northern Vermont. I have worked for the State of Vermont, Department of Corrections the past 31 years and hope to move to Eastern Tennessee in the next 2-3 years. I have several firearms and enjoy the outdoors, I thought this would be a good group to join, make a few connections before I retire there.

The weather is going to be quite a bit different, and you actually need a permit to carry a pistol out and about.  I think you'll like the cost of living difference, however.

Welcome to the forum! Tennessee is a great place, I've heard Vermont is nice too but haven't been.

Thank you for the warm welcome everyone, it is very appreciated.

Raoul I think Bernie has some very good ideas, he has also supported the rights of gun owners. I am just not sure how Bernie would deal with foreign issues.

Btq96r the summer weather will certainly be a big change, I hear it is quite hot and humid there, here in Northern Vermont (20 miles from the Canadian Border) I think it has only been over 90 degrees a couple of times, and not overly fond of muggy weather. On the upside, I hear Spring and Fall in Tennessee are like in Vermont, and I don't feel too bad leaving the below zero weather and multiple snow storms behind. I hear it is much more affordable in Tennessee, the taxes here make it almost impossible to live here. Is it hard to get a pistol permit? We live just across the lake from New York, and I have some land over there. There gun laws are quite strict and their permits are very hard to get, I have not even tried, have to leave my handguns at home.

Ugly, I will try to stock up on the Maple Syrup!
