Discussion Of Possible Gun Legislation, Parks Again

Ascend Amphitheater is located inside Riverfront Park, a public park. By what authority do they believe they can ban firearms and knives that are under state preemption?

These arrogant city officials that thumb their noses at state law sicken me.

Is there any movement toward strengthening state preemption to include civil fines for officials who violate state law?

How do you believe the lawmakers are going to address the issue this year?

According to the Nashville Metro legal director Saul Solomon, "oh yeah? Kiss my butt, AG Slatery! See you in court. nanny-nanny-boo-boo" <<paraphrase is mine>>

No. But I suppose in theory that if someone brought a suit against Metro for it (they'd first have to be denied entry or kicked out of Ascend for having a lawful firearm) then they could sue for puntitive damages. The money would come from Metro or its insurance policies, not from any one individual.

Currently? By making it legal for them to do so. A thought bill was submitted allowing parks to be off limits in any area that requires paid admission, but now I can't find it. It may or may not go anywhere if it does exist.

As long as you conceal, you should not have any problems in those locations because you are legal.  Worst case if your handgun becomes visible, someone asks you to leave.

There is a Democrat sponsored bill in the House and Senate that would restrict carry at places that charge admission.  I doubt it would go anywhere because of it being a Democratic sponsored bill, but we should keep an eye on it.

From what I'm seeing, there really aren't any bills that help with reducing restrictions for handgun carry permits.  Most of the bills are a lot of political noise that won't help permits and honestly won't get floor votes.
