Looking to move to Eastern TN

Hello! I'm looking to move to Eastern TN, so I thought I'd join up and start getting to know the greatest gun owners :)

I'm from a socialist country, formerly known as New York. So far, this forum vs NY gun forum are 2 different worlds. I love it.

Hope you don't mind having a yankee on board! Thanks for having me.

East Tennessee is awesome! Just don't bring Yankee ideas and you'll be fine.

Welcome!

I don't think I have any Yankee ideas...I'm far from NYC (Syracuse area) and I hate cities, traffic. Unless you call soda "pop", but that is the extent of my yankeeness! :D

Gotcha, I used to hunt north central PA and NY was 20 minutes away, I know that not all of NY is boogered up. Great hunting up there!

I'm about 20 minutes east of Knoxville. While not as secluded as I'd prefer, it is fantastic here.

Ugly Where about did you hunt in Pa and NY.  I probably hunted there also.

Welcome from the Tri Cities of upper East Tennessee. There are gun clubs everywhere here, so don't be bashful about looking one up. Glad to have you.

I moved from 20 miles East of Rochester in early June. East TN is great. We bought a place a little South of Jonesborough. Still getting settled so haven't had the time to do a lot of shooting yet but have converted one of my 10-22s to a thumbhole stock, officially a NY assault rifle now and bought a couple of standard magazines for my Glock. I have setup some steel behind the house so I can shoot off my deck, that needs some more work and more steel but it will come with time. Was just back in NY last week to move the last of my shop out of the state.

Have you narrowed down your area of interest yet?  I have a great realtor that works out of Kingsport that spent many days with us till we found the right house. He said I could recommend him to any of my conservative Yankee friends.

East TN is horrible.  Don't move here.  You will hate it.

Especially the greater Knoxville area east of Knox.  Worst place in the world.

Nashville will be more to your liking.

No, Not Nashville or Middle Tennessee.  People hate it here.  I would move to Chattanooga,  for sure.  WAAAY nicer.

Agee with Mike357, he left out that taxes are high in East Tennessee, heavy traffic, smog and crime is high, middle Tennessee is where you want to go.  The hilly mountain terrain causes premature transmission failures, and the bears are evil and mean.
