Spider ID?

Anyone know what this is?  It was about 1-1.5" anchored a web spanning at least 15' and then started building the web itself about 1' in diameter.  anchor part of the web was so thick I walked into it and it didn't even break.  The only kind of spiders I don't mind are wolf spiders, so this one is no longer a resident of the property.  But was still curious on what it was, haven't seen anything that big around here before outside of the wolf spiders.

I think it's a brown orb weaver or a make you take your shirt off and scream like a little girl spider :panic:

I ran into one last week on my deck, left the porch light on and he made a nice web right outside my door.

googled it, looks like that's what it was.  Was making a pretty elaborate web, too bad it didn't have the correct building permits to do so on my patio.

That's pretty funny. I have another one building a web on the outside of my deck in my tree. I am good with it as long as he stays there.

My wife hates me, all spiders are relocated to the outdoors. No genocide in the house. We have a spider removal system specifically for the purpose. Well, an old Pringles can, but it does what it does.

Now on that flip side, if my dog or one of the cats; well, the kitten, the old maid won't eat bugs anymore; spots an insect in the domain, they will eat it post haste. I allow that to happen, as it is just nature taking it's course.

Same here-- with one exception. Brown recluses die on the spot. Everything else in spider family gets a free ride to the great outdoors.

We have a ton of wolf spiders around, I think they do a good job of keeping the brown recluses away, been here 3 years and only seen one.  I started putting glue traps out in the garage just to see what kind of critters are around.  So far that have caught 2 birds, a vole, a bunch of weird beetles, a ton of wolf spiders, at least 1 lizard per week.

The strange thing I've noticed is that the glue traps come with different designs on them, certain bugs seem to be attracted to specific designs (I always lay them flat open, never fold them into a box).  Strangest thing.
