Picked this up off another forum, looks like they're actually going to do it. I'm really excited but i'm also on edge a bit to see how bad they screw it up. There has been some talk already on casting, but that was sometime back and all speculation so as far as I can tell it's still very much in the air.

I'd like to see some unknowns take the key rolls on this. I feel like theres enough story to fully develop the characters, but if for instance a young Clint Eastwood got cast as Roland (as great a fit as that would be given the man without a name was an admitted huge influence on King for Roland) I think I and most people would end up seeing just that, Clint Eastwood on the road to the tower instead of Roland Deschain.

Eddie and Susannah bring up their own sets of challenges as well. Aaron Paul would probably make a great Eddie Dean, but who here wouldn't just be waiting for him to say something like "yeah, science bitch! Magnets!" the whole time?

what about Susannah? Finding someone to play her will be easy, so will finding someone to play Detta, but both of them? I don't know. Will we even really get to 'meet' Detta Walker is likely the better question these days. She's a racially charged character and embodies a lot of the ugliness of many stereotypes. It;ll be interesting to see how they present it in any case.

Man so many questions, I can't wait until more info comes out and i can decide wether to hate it or love it without seeing it  .

Did you see Clint Eastwood's son in "Fury?"  He somewhat looks like a young Clint Eastwood while being his own man.

Maybe Stephen King will play himself when he shows up in the later movies.  Just kidding, I hope they cut that completely, along with the Golden Snitch and Lightsaber-wielding Doombots.  The Wolves can literally look like anything else and be more believable.

They are going to need to run Detta's lines by several actual black people; I think I remember cringing at some of the dialogue that came from the mind of a white guy.

I'm thinking Roland doesn't lose any fingers, because that would be a pain to CG in every shot.

Dude if it's the first book it's going to be boring as hell. The first 20 minutes will be great as Roland dispatches some justice.....then nothing followed by some slow mutants.

I'm nervous that the movies will be ludicrous.

Tick Tock Man, Andy the robot, Oy, Mord? bleh.....

plus if movie 4 is Wizard and Glass... i'll never watch it. That was the slowest book i've ever read in my life.

***edit*** I would also like to add that in my head, the Crimson King is not some old man who hoots and hollers.

Wizard and Glass could be used as flashbacks in the other movies, maybe.

I hope they keep the ending of the entire series.

Having read everything King wrote since "Carrie" came out I was very disappointed with the Dark Tower series after the first 3 books or so.  The storyline started out with great promise, then gradually devolved to a rehash of many of King's previous themes, and he outdid himself with the gratuitous references to earlier works in this one.  By the end of the series I just wanted it over, apparently King did too as the last book seemed like he just said "to hell with it" and stopped.  Few of King's longer works have made very good movies, I highly doubt this one will be watchable (his novellas and short stories make great movies though) and will certainly be almost incomprehensible to those who never read the books ...

That anti-gun asshat, windbag, d-bag isn't getting a dime of mine. He jumped the shark about the last time I filled a diaper with something comparable to his work.

I am not sure how I feel about the movies. I am a fan of books because they fill a niche that movies can't. The depth is deeper, you as the reader picture the characters. There is so much more that can be done in a book that just can't happen in a movie. That is why I think this story just won't be done justice. I am not saying they can't make a good movie out of it, but I don't think it will be as good as the book.

I think one of the Hemsworth brothers could be Roland. I am not sure if they have the proper age/weathered look to them though. I think the middle one could do it, but he is too young. The eyes are the most important part. They have to be that proper blue.

I like Aaron Paul as Eddie.

Zoe Saldana could be a good Susannah.
