hey just got this maverick, and i havent had a screw on choke gun before. it came with a .660 turkey tube in whick i assume i can only shoot lead threw. but my question is can i shoot this gun whith no choke? looking at maybe trying to shoot some slugs thru it. imo it might mess up the threads in the barrel. and if i have to buy a choke for slugs what would it be a cylinder? inproved? even thought about a rifled tube, but would rifled slugs be just as well?

thanks

NO you do not want to shoot it w/ no choke. WHile you could do so safely, it will ruin the threads and need to be re-threaded before you could use tubes again. In MY opinion, your fist buy should be a cylinder bore tube. You can launch anything you please through it, and is great for up close defense. Follow that w/ a modified choke for small game hunting and what not, and you'll be all set.

The turkey tube, you're right, only shoot lead loads. Steel, heavy buck and slugs will have you singing the blues {provided you can still sing afterward:stare:}

Hope that helps.
