So as the title implies I'm looking for rail suggestions in the 14 inch to 15 inch range.  Any type of mounting system proprietary or otherwise is fine with me.  I would like for it to be able to fit an adjustable gas block however.  Ultimately I'd really like a 14.5" but they seem to be few and far between.

I like the USG Pro line. I have one in 15" and the price is certainly right for a nicely made piece of gear. It's slim though so double check the dimensions for you're gas block. I'd recommend getting one of the ones you can adjust at the front.

I also like the MI SS rail. I have a shorter one, but it lines up with the vent perfectly on a BTE gas block set screw on a carbine length barrel.

I like the look of the YHM stuff that came out awhile ago, but my experience is limited to some of their more 'archaic' models. I like them for what it's worth.

Samson Evo. Uses standard barrel nut also. Can be had as keymod or proprietary rail sections. Made with 1.56" ID to fit most supressors but only 1.8" OD. I have a 15" and 10", it's an excellent handguard. Click on the lengths at midway and it'll change the picture. Shop around, might find a better price.

I have a Midwest Industries rail I used on my last build.  I don't remember the length, but I have been very happy with it.  I think it may be only a 12" rail.  I had read some reviews that the were not as sold as some of the other options, but mine has no play or give to it.  When the time comes for another build, I will probably buy another MI.  It may not be the last, greatest, whizbang thing out there.  However, the price is reasonable, and it gets it done.

I love the Troy Alpha Rails, but they are slim so I'm not sure if it will clear the gas block you mentioned as I have no experience with those. I really like the Troy models that have the built in flip up front sight when paired with the Troy flip up battle rear sight.

I recently picked up one of these http://www.hera-arms.com/!irs-keymod/c1ksk#  very nice, made in germany.

Well it wouldn't link directly to the page for the rail, but it is the irs keymod

I have a troy, UTG pro, and a MI. The Hera rail is my favorite out of all of them, easily the lightest of the bunch.

I've got a 15 inch Midwest industries ssk on my 6.8 build. I've been very happy with it thus far. Had to do a slight bit of fitment to clear the adjustable has block but it was so slight you would not notice if I didn't point it out. It's very light for the length and nice and slim as the name implies.

I've used a couple of the Midwest Industries handguards, and I'd buy another.

We carry the UTG Pro Super Slim Free Float rails in our shop solely because:

1. They're made in the United States

2. They come WITH the barrel nut, barrel nut wrench, and 3 rail pieces.

3. The quality of UTG has come a long, long, long way since the company first opened. We've been very impressed with them.

4. They're INSANELY easy to put on without any tools. They even include the allen wrench, etc.

5. They come in 7", 9", 13", and 15" lengths.

Of course, if you want a cool-factor, we've also got some prototype Spike's Tactical Spiderweb free float handguards that they're testing to see if they want to carry them on a more permanent basis. They don't even have them on their website at this point. :)

Everything in our store usually has one package open to allow people to pick it up, feel it, see if it's what you really want. Of course, we have sample ARs with the various products on them too, so you can see how it feels on a gun. You're more than welcome to swing by and actually put hands on some possibilities if you're in the area. Even if you don't buy from us, we're just happy to help.

ALG

These are made by Geissele.

These are great, too!

Actually, "ALG" stands for "Amy Lynn Geissele" and was started so that they could offer budget-friendly triggers without disparaging the Geissele name. Same tool steel as the Geissele triggers and everything. Great stuff. We've been impressed with their handguards for sure, too.

If my 2A Armament rail ever comes in, I'll install it for a mock up of the "look".

Is that a pistol?

No. Just an early pic in the build process. I have a complete pic somewhere, just wasn't handy at the moment.

Well if it were built from a stripped lower all you have to do is remove the shoulder stock to turn it into a pistol.

True. Which I would do if I had a desire for an AR pistol.

That is actually the second configuration for this lower. Initially it had all MOE furniture and a Trijicon Reflex optic.
