Favorite dealer for transfers in Knoxville-Clinton

I have a younger sister who lives in the Knoxville area and works in Clinton.  Afte rmany years of encouragement, she has decided that she wants a handgun.  We've talked at length and I have worked with her on her shooting skills and I feel if she's ready then I'm ready to help her get one.  I live in the western end of the state, so I can't really recommend a lgs to handle her transfer.  We've found her gun at Kentucky Gun Co. but need some dealer locat to her area to transfer it to.

Do you guys have a favorite place to do your transfers in this area?  She's 50 years old and just a little intimidated to walk into a gunstore by herself.  I'm proud that she's taking this step and I want her to have a good experience in her first gun to buy.  Where do I need to send her?  Also, do you know their transfer fee?

thanks

Can't recommend Harvey's on Clinton Hwy anymore. Now that he's gotten more successful I guess, he jumped from 15 clams to 35! (+ TICS)

All listed are good options. Fighting Sheep Dog gets my vote. They are vendors here, and unless it's changed transfers are $20. Plus side is its owned by a couple and Rachel the wife runs the counter so she will be able to deal with a female presence which should be less intimidating than your average testosterone fest.

I like Law Enforcement sales but any dealer should be able to handle the transfer. I will say that LE Sales is more home like than any other place I have ever been. His shop is actually the garage to his home so it is more like visiting a friend than getting a gun transferred.

And because the transfer is going to be the same regardless of the dealer you choose so you might as well find the cheapest one to do the transfer and LE Sales is one of the cheapest I have found.

A lot of pawn shops also do transfers and they tend to be even cheaper. They do not rely on transfers or gun sales to stay in business so they tend to be pretty cheap for transfers.

Contact Mike (LawEnforcementSalesTN). He is in Ork Ridge. Nice guy and reasonable transfer fee.

Sending you a PM.

Yep.

I'm on the other side of the world from yall but I'd have to say, support those who support us and Law enforcement sales has been a great contributor here.

Thanks for all the advice.  Some great help here.

It looks like Fighting Sheepdog and Law Enforcement Sales have gotten multiple recommends.  Does anyone have contact info for each that I can share with my sister?  I just talked to her and she's excited about your recommendations.

thanks

SheepDog looks great, only 10 bucks transfer, BUT looks complicated. Requires an "ink signed copy of their FFL".

That means no emailed or faxed copy is acceptable, which of course is the way it's generally done. I can imagine trying to get this done with say PSA, where you generally can't get anybody on the phone to begin with, to send a snail mailed copy.

Sounds like it can just be tossed in wit the order for the customer.

Yeah, well, getting some of the big vendors to actually do that might be quite the trick.

That remains a good thing about Harvey's, he stays on file with most of the biggies, last 4 guns or so I've bought from various places, I didn't have to do a thing except select him during the checkout.

Just never heard of transfer shop that wanted an actual live signature on a copy of a sending FFL, certainly not required by law or anything.

I should rectify that wording on our website. We handle 100% of the paperwork for you and most of the larger companies (Buds, AIM, Palmetto, too name a few) already have our FFL on file, so they'll ship right away with zero need to wait on anything from us.

Our transfer fee is $10 for the firearm and $10 for the background check.

And yes, this is Rachel and I'm happy to have our on-site gunsmith available to show her how to break down and clean her first firearm at no additional charge while she's here.

Let us know what we can do to help!

Wow, wish I lived closer to Powell.  Can't beat that price and that kind of service...
