"The Precision Rifle’s upper receiver and one-piece bolt body are CNC-machined from pre-hardened 4140 chrome/molybdenum alloy steel. The lower receiver is machined in two pieces, right and left halves, from 7075-T6 hard-coat anodized aluminum. That method simplifies manufacture, allows more precise control of machining in the magazine well and makes assembly of small components easier as they can be placed in position in one half before the other half is attached.

 

Offered at this time in three short-action chamberings, the rifle is available in .308. Win. with a 20" barrel, 6.5 mm Creedmoor with a 24" barrel and .243 Win. with a 26" barrel. The weights vary by chambering, but with the lightest model starting at 9.7 lbs. sans optic, the Precision Rifle is not a light firearm. The evaluation gun provided by Ruger was chambered in 6.5 mm Creedmoor and—after being furnished with a scope, bipod and stock-mounted monopod—tipped the scales at just over 15 lbs."

Cool.   If it turns out to be a decently accurate long range gun, I might just get one of these.   You would need a special built tripod or something though, at 20 pounds with equipment on it and bullets in it ...

I got an email from Ruger about this rifle yesterday, glad to see a conversation about it already. I love the way it looks and 0.5 MOA out of the box is impressive. I hope to hear more about it.

That's one of the things I read...something special about the mag release makes it work with numerous brands of mags. That's odd for Ruger...they're notorious for making rifles that only take proprietary mags.

Well, had a read the whole article FIRST.  This thing will take a multitude of magazines including the Pmag.  

 

Dang Ruger,  good work!  It's sad to say but the passing of Ole Bill was the best thing for that company since it started.  They are making some NICE stuff nowadays.

I like the use of different mags as well as the folding stock and threaded barrel.
I need a 30 cal host.

I want one of these in 6.5 Creedmoor badly. Haven't seen them for sale anywhere yet, although Ruger says they're out there now.

Visiting  a local shop yesterday. They sold their first one on Gun Broker. wouldn't say what they got just more than MSRP. They also related how the bolt self stripped when they took it out of the rifle. Took them some time to get it put back together so they could ship.

Have my AR up in the classifieds as ive been looking for a Savage or Remington 700 bolt action lately to build up, stumbled across that big review over on SnipersHide and I was sold. Anyone got a bead on one of these locally? I called all the big shops around here, Armory, Outpost, local Murfreesboro one, and nothing. Hoping GT's will have some as they are a Ruger LE Distributer according to Rugers website.

I was in GT Distributors and got to handle one. Very nice for $899.00. They had the 6.5 and .308. They are just over the state line from Chattanooga. I had to walk out quick. They had already got my money on something else. Edited August 19, 2015 by R1100R

I have many long range systems from Steyr to Remington to HK so this "Precision Rifle" got my attention, especially at a retail of $1399.00. I was fortunate to order one for $920.00. So far the reviews are great. All you need to do is put some glass and a bipod and your ready to go. I can't wait to unbox mine when it gets in.

It was ordered from a local gun shop in Crossville. Not sure of the name. My friend ordered one for him and myself. I am currently in Afghanistan. I am hoping its in before I get home in October. I will post pics etc. on it when I return home.
