Anyone ever put an AC unit in their garage?

Hey folks- thought I'd ask here in the event any of you has any ideas about how I might do this.

My garage has become too hot to work in, and I need to change that. I have a good window AC unit that I'm not using that I can easily plug in and run, but what I'm struggling with is how to vent the hot air coming out of the unit to the outside. I cant figure out any way to do that without opening the garage door partway, which would negate anything I'd gain by running the unit in the first place. Anyone ever do anything like this, or have any ideas how I might vent that hot exhaust air to the outside?

Thanks

Window Units were meant to be hung out the window... Barring that break out a saw and hammer and frame out a hole in the wall that you can slide it through....

My window AC unit came with a sheet showing the size opening and how to build a support for an installation where there wasn’t a window.

I will assume you don’t have a window, so that’s about your only option.

On a small single car garage I think it would be simple to fashion a wall from a sheet of osb and sit the garage door on top of it with the ac unit slid into the OSB. It'd be a bit bulky to store, but would be inexpensive and simple to build.

I would put it in the wall and vent it outside. No sense in taking up window lighting and you may want to open the windows after it cools off. I use to have a garage with the unit in the wall and garage stayed cool but not cold..............jmho

Never had a garage a/c, my solution, I don't work when its hot.  I do remember a number of midnight garage jobs though.  Fans are a different story.

I've put a window unit in one garage, in a framed hole in the wall for it. Just installed a mini-spilt in another which is working quite well, only required a single 3" hole to pass the hoses and wiring through. Best has been the built in garage at the new house, figured it in as heated and cooled space to start and installed an r-18 insulated door and it's just as cool as the rest of the house, but obviously that isn't as easy an option after the fact.

This is what I do in my garage. However, I have a 12,000 BTU unit with lots of insulation and it stays very cool.
