I'm fairly certain I can hide and lock my handgun in my car in the parking garage, it's been over 10 years since i've been there, going this weekend. I know I can't wear it in the Casino, all these legal terms are confusing about parking lot storage though. My sister wanted to go to Illinois, I told her i'll only go to Indiana, wont step 1 inch in Illinois out of principle.

Illinois is clear nowadays -- anyone with a handgun permit from any state may keep loaded handgun in his vehicle. So seems more clear than IN according to what you suggest at least about that one issue.

Wasn't that way the last time i went to Aztar, again that's why I went to Indiana. Back then if caught with a firearm in Illinois was life on a chain gang and waterboarding twice a week, I know the state eased up on firearms laws, just not sure how much.

I did carry last time and locked it out of sight in my car in the garage, I almost swear that they had lockers before you entered the Casino where you could actually check your shootin iron. Indiana is a pretty gun friendly state.

Things do change frequently in this life though, and sometimes even in IL :) :

From PUBLIC SAFETY
(430 ILCS 66/) Firearm Concealed Carry Act.

(e) Nothing in this Act shall prohibit a non-resident from transporting a concealed firearm within his or her vehicle in Illinois, if the concealed firearm remains within his or her vehicle and the non-resident:
        (1) is not prohibited from owning or possessing a firearm under federal law;
        (2) is eligible to carry a firearm in public under the laws of his or her state or territory of residence, as evidenced by the possession of a concealed carry license or permit issued by his or her state of residence, if applicable; and
        ( 3 ) is not in possession of a license under this Act.
    If the non-resident leaves his or her vehicle unattended, he or she shall store the firearm within a locked vehicle or locked container within the vehicle in accordance with subsection ( b ) of Section 65 of this Act."  (basically various locations even IL licensed persons may not carry on person, and firearm must be in locked glovebox, trunk, or locked gun case).

That is good to know.  I have been going up to Metropolis to play poker on the weekends.  I have been leaving my gun at home because I assumed it would not have been as straightforward as what you posted.  Also I valet park and did not want to leave my gun in the vehicle.  The center console does lock but it is not secure.  I think I will get me a lockable container that I can secure under my seat.

Get the kind with a combination lock. I have the key one and it's a PITA.

Oh well, didn't win big but at least I didn't loose big either. If I would have won at least a grand I would have been posting a pic in the Handguns forum Monday. :)

Take a look at handgunlaw.us .   It looks like criminal code just prohibits carry at K-12 schools.  I'd carry the gun on me at the casino or keep it in my hotel room.  A casino is a good place to carry with all the cash changing hands and criminals looking for opportunities.  I know there have been some robberies at the casinos in Tunica.  "No gun" signs do not have any legal weight in Indiana.

I didn't stay the night so I left it in the car in the garage. Never saw any "No Weapons" signs. I did however forget to leave my 4" CaseXX in the car, had it in my pocket but it was no problem. Don't ask don't tell.

True signs do not carry the force of law in Indiana; but carrying in a casino or riverboat casino is prohibited by statute regardless of having an Indiana LTCHG or any other state for that matter.

Also you can carry on school property as long as you are dropping off or picking up a student and you do not exit your vehicle. Additionally a duly authorized citizen may carry in a designated school with the express written permission of the school board and superentendant.

So carrying in a casino no go
