Gas key staked enough?

Recommended Posts

Going off of the pics, I'd want a bit better staking on my rifles. It doesn't look like the metal from the screws is having any contact with the metal of gas key, which is the whole purpose of having it staked.

If you're friends with a local gun smith, I'd see if he'd throw you a bone and do a little work to it for you. It's only a 5 min job or so. or you could just buy a punch and do it yourself. There's a lot of resources out there on how to do it and what it should look like when you're done.

Here's another forum's post that has some examples of good staking (Colt, LMT) and bad staking (RRA, Bushmaster).

These are samples of one and I'm not saying that RRA and Bushmaster always have bad staking, just that in these pics they do.

Your BCG seems to fall in with the RRAs and Bushmasters in that post. From what I can tell at least.

Hope that helps!
