EDIT: As some people are obviously going to take offense (and have), this is what an FBI agent I work with almost every day said when I showed him the video. I am simply passing along HIS observation.
--------------------------------

Is this real, or a training "how to not make an arrest" video?

1) Guy should have been in cuffs at the bathroom. He never should have walked that far behind an officer's back with his hands free.
2) Firing at man on the ground? I get adreneline, but still, not good.

Bad procedure.

I'm curious, is this guy a field agent? My wife's grandfather was 30 years FBI......never took anyone into custody....never went hands on with anyone except in training.

As to his comments:

1. He wasn't under arrest in the bathroom and he had an officer behind him the entire time.

2. Hard to tell, but it looks as though he's still holding the weapon when she fires. And, as any experienced FBI agent would know, a guy with a gun is a threat, even on the ground.

Seems gun appears on ground just about simultaneously with her last three shots, but not really clearly before, so I rule it all good. :)

In respect to the comments attributed to a Federal Agent. Municipal Law Enforcements generally more immediate with investigations done on the fly and on scene. It's pretty apparent the officers in question in this shooting were initially investigating what appears to have been a misdemeanor theft call. It could have resulted in little more than a citation, IOW no one going to jail. I handled a bunch of like investigations in the past. The suspect in this one decided to do something stupid. Now as to the how and why of the female shooting when the suspect was down already. Its pretty hard to stop a reactionary cycle once its kicked in and everyone has differing levels of neurological chemistry to sort through once in a fight/flight cycle. So no, I don't have any criticism towards either officer. FWIW I never had an FBI Agent ever make a negative observation in my presence of anything another officer had done. Overall they were pretty closed mouthed.

Yes, he was a field agent (now retired) with a pretty long string of arrests. When I see him again, I'll let him read all this.

You boys want me to ask my father in law? He is retired FBI, no field agent work. He was a Mechanical engineer and worked in 3D printing and rapid reproduction. Pretty cool. He could throw in his :2cents:

Well, I just showed him the thread again. He would never criticize an officer to his face; his comments were made to me. I just felt they had merit.

Now, he's just sitting in the corner of the shop chuckling. Lol
