Okay, I have a Colt in .38spl, made in 1976-77. It's a really tight, and clean gun. Rifling is a little shallow, but VERY bright. This thing groups pretty tight....about 2 inches to the left. I've tried different grips, nothing. It has a groove in the frame for the rear sight and a solid...VERY solid blade front.

If I don't find a fix for it, I'm going to take the barrel off, buy a new blank and turn me a new one. Mill the top of the frame flat and install a set of target sights. I sure hate to go cutting on this gun, but if it doesn't shape up it's gotta go!!!! Sad part, I REALLY like this gun. :wall::hat::censored::wall::D

Well, I should have posted that too. Duh.

I have been all over the handload spectrum. The only difference is the size of the groups. I load a 141g button nose wadcutter and at 15 yards, the groups is less than 2 inches. I'm not the best pistol shot, but I can tear the bullseye out, as long as I hold to the right. It's :hat::bs:BULL:poop:!!!!

You could take a needle file and very carefully file the rear sight notch wider on the right side. This will draw the strike of the round to the right. Also you can also file the front sight on the right side to accomplish the same thing. Be very careful, it's easier to take metal off than to put it back on.

I'll have to think on that one. At this point I'd like to just trade it off for another .38spl and be done with it. Truth be told, it's probably me. I'll bet my favorite hat someone else would do just fine w/ it. It's really a great old gun, but I think we were never meant to be together. I think I'll post it for sale next week. I will have been here 30 days next week, so I can use the for sale section.

Pretty sure he's in the Williamson County area, although his user profile doesn't say. That'd be a pretty good drive. :D

King Tung, your wisdom is a little unsettling. :D:ugh:

If I hadn't already met you face to face, I'd label you Big Brother:tinfoil:

:DI jest:D

I am by no means any kind of expert especially when it comes to handguns and working on them. However, I remember reading that for the old Colt single actions, if they were shooting to one side like yours is, they would "turn the barrel" slightly to better align the sights. :D I dunno.

Might want to have a smith look at it before you twist on the barrel. Some good articles over in ColtForum on how big a job it is to change barrel.-----MP

;) Thanks for the interest, but I just put it away.

I removed the wood{sealed them separate) and coated it 20w50 Castrol. Vacuum sealed it and hid it.....wait that's privy info there!:)
