Just glass bedded my M44 Mosin

After refinishing the stock, I decided I would give glass bedding a try, seeing that I had about a 3 inch group at 25 yards with the iron sights....   Wish me luck and say a little prayer that I used enough release agent!

Drying in the closet, the color was a mix of Minwax Gunstock and Minwax Red Mahogany

5 coats of Tru Oil, the recoil pad doesn't fit exactly but I guess I'll live with it

JB Weld bedded for 4 hours before taking apart to let cure....   and I'm planning on shimming the barrel with a small piece of rubber tubing

Almost finished, just some trigger work, and reassembly and I'll post some pretty pictures after it's done

OK, the M44 was designed to be fired with the bayonet extended, and that's the way the Soviets used it. It has to do with barrel harmonics. Now I've seen it have a big effect on accuracy in some 44's and not much in others. So when you go test fire it for accuracy, you might try it both ways just to see what it prefers. They're darn good rifles. FWIW.

You did some really nice stock refinishing on your M-44, it turned out really well. I suspect it'll shoot just fine but if you do end up shimming the barrel I don't recommend rubber tubing, I always used a piece od copper.

I took it off

LOL the recoil pad you used isn't a permanent add on so unless it doesn't feel good when your shooting why worry? Refinishing the stock only enhanced the looks of a milsurp rifle that isn't all that rare so that's a non issue. Just take that little stomper out, shoot it and have a good time.
