Magpul MOE SL Carbine Stock

You haven't already ordered one have you? I have some kind of ATI stock coming in that claims to be tight and stupid light. But even the Magpul CTR is quite low on the wobble factor with the tensioner lever....

I just mounted one.

ITS TIGHT!  ZERO WOBBLE!  :woohoo:

In fact almost too tight if you are one of those types who is always making adjustments.  There are two flat springs on the inside of the stock that presses against both sides of the receiver extension.  Therefore the pressure is constant and does not depend on the lockup of the latch to tighten up the stock.

I like it.

Aside from the look, what's the difference between this and a CTR stock?  The price is about the same depending on vendor.

I have MOE stocks on both my AR's and the wobble while annoying, isn't really noticeable once I'm shooting.

The SL is always tight.   Its almost like trying to push a MIL-SPEC stock onto a commercial tube.  With the SL there is no additional "thing" to work to make it tighten up.

The CTR requires that you lock the stock in tight once you have selected the position.

I will admit that the release levers on the side are taking some time for me to get use to.  I think its the result of many decades of muscle memory pulling up on the single lever found on CAR/M4/everybody else's collapsible stock.

Yeah, I'm a creature of habit with my stock as well.  I also move it around quite a bit between storage, shooting, in and out of my range bag, my truck...so having it where I can just move it easily is what I'd prefer.

I got my new Magpul MOE SL stock today and installed it right away. It installs quickly and easily and I really like it. Actually I like it better than the CTR stock, and that's saying a lot. It fits the tube very tightly and therefore there is absolutely no rattling or wobbling at all. It slides back and forth on the buffer tube kinda hard, but I imagine that'll work in with time. All in all I think it's a good upgrade and I'd do it again.
