Well if I have to shoot I might use my cheapest ammunition which is my cast, and powder coated, bullets for my 300 Blackout. They cost me 4.4 cents a shot.

Bet they make a nasty enough hole.

Big difference; these are made with TLC.

I run 62 grain in a 12 twist gun with a 20" barrel.

That's the equivalent of a fused hand grenade isn't it? I bet that thing tumbles early and often, and a 20" barrel means it's gonna be carrying a lot of juice. I love it

It is stable to about 100 yards. You can see a feathered side of the bullet hole in the target because it is just starting to loose stability. I will say it shot better than any other AR with M855.

My Sport II has a 16.5" × 1:9 twist

Any recommendations for home defense and zombie control no more than 100 yards out?

Unless you want to spend big on fancy expanding "self defense" rounds, hard to beat just any ole .223 softpoint for all around. Somewhat less chance of passing all the way through at close range, plenty devastating  (less dependent on optimum yawing/fragmentation on contact than FMJ), and you can even legally hunt with it.

My rifle stays loaded with Lake City 5.56 62gr, but it would not be my go to.... Next to the bed is a Gen3 G17 With Critical Duty +P and a TLR-3
